Whiskey, God and Women: Artist Talk
MilkBoy ArtHouse • 7416 Baltimore Avenue College Park, MD
Curator Risikat “Kat” Okedeyi will host a conversation with the Artist Rodney “Buck” Herring surrounding his inspiration and motivation on his first exhibit.
Whiskey, God and Women is a culmination of ten years of introspection featuring the artwork of Rodney “BUCK!” Herring. In this mixed-media exhibition, Herring highlights the tensions he must manage as a Black man in America, “I love, but have been conditioned to love only one way and I know that conditioning is a lie, yet I continue to follow it and have to fight that turmoil to end up sitting in the same space wondering what to do. Being a black man in America is a contradiction in itself. I must be one way and must think in one way, but my experiences and time have taught me differently.”
