Dream Makers Highlights Area Happen Makers (NEW SERIES)

Dream Makers Highlights Area Happen Makers (NEW SERIES)

What is a Dream Maker? For us, it is a person who is living and maintaining their dream work. An individual who has gone past the “imagining” and into action. These are the folks that live in their passion on a daily basis and are sustaining themselves in the “real world”. It is not as easy as it looks and it requires a dedication and consistency that is not for the faint of heart. How do the dream makers do it? That is what we are going to finds out. With Kat at the helm, we will  bring area entrepreneurs and Creatives to one of our favorite spots, Den of Thieves for cocktails, eats and a dynamic live conversation. To kick off the series, we decided to invite someone we have admired for some time.

jamyla_webJamyla Bennu is co-founder and co-owner of family-owned Oyin Handmade whose mission for a more supple world, has become a working dream that is now thirteen years in the making. In addition to their online store, Oyin Handmade can now be found at select Whole Foods and Target brand stores.

When she realized that even some of her favorite ‘natural’ bodycare items tended to use petroleum, mineral oil, corn oil, or other non-nourishing ingredients; she decided she could do just as well by herself, and started working on her own recipes. As the ingredient-conscious & generally crafty chick – and Grand Mixtress of Oyin Handmade, Jamyla has always been one for mixing things together and personalizing products for her own needs & preferences. It was about experimentation, having fun, and feeling in control of what she was using on her body.  Oyin Handmade was born in winter 2001 when Jamyla started sharing her all-natural bodycare products with a small circle of family and friends. From there, it moved to fairs and shows, and the website was launched in spring of 2003. With research, study, and good old trial & error, Oyin Handmade creates products that are not just natural, but nourishing.

In addition to the conversation, there will be an Oyin Handmade Pop-Up shop, so arrive early and stock up on your holiday gifts. RSVP below and we will see you the 17th!
