Kat’s Korner: The Thread Vol. 5 Returns with More Timely Topics (VIRTUAL EVENT)

I am super excited to be part of the next edition of Tastemaker Africa’s virtual conference, The Thread. It is amazing to think that just a few short months ago I was part of the DC kick-off of what was meant to be a traveling conversation. We had no idea then that COVID-19 would come through and shut everything down and that we would find ourselves homebound and relying primarily on the virtual space to stay connected. Now in its fifth installment, The Thread is continuing its mission to explore how the diaspora can do better by itself and its children.

This Sunday, July 5th will be jam packed with discussions around dismantling patriarchy, repatriations post-COVID, what it means to be free, and more. I am especially excited to be back as a moderator for panel entitled: Dismantling Internalized White Supremacy (12:50PM). I will be joined by four panelists as we navigate how white supremacy affectsBlack people and the harm it causes. It should be an amazing day of talks, with some dj sets and networking thrown in. Register here, fire up your computer and meet us in the virtual space for what is sure to be an engaging round of exchanges.
