30 Dec Style Pick!: The Last-Minute NYE Look
It’s that time of year again! 2013 is fast approaching and while you may have squared away all your new year’s resolutions, you have yet to decide where you’re going or what you’re going to wear for a fun-filled night out. In some cases a last minute decision can be the most fashionable one. For a fool proof last-minute NYE ensemble consider a few tricks.
Start in YOUR closet:Winging it with an unplanned night of traipsing and cocktailing on U Street or Midtown? Scan your closet for the right combination of glitz and “urbanna”, perfect for bar hopping with your friends or stopping at a house party to ring in the New Year. Pair a sequined or satin cocktail dress with a denim or leather jacket and a sexy yet sensible pair of pumps. Pointed toe heels or ankle boots are great compliments. Finish this festively easygoing outfit off with understated metallic jewelry, layering wool or fur over your jacket for extra warmth.
Hit the mall: No luck rummaging through your closet? Run to the local mall for a game changing NYE look. This might sound daunting at first but simplicity is key. Look for basic garments like body conscious or tailored dresses, wide leg pants, and silk blouses. These pieces serve as the foundation for a balanced ensemble that is further “stellarized” with bright, shiny, baubles for a glamourous glow. The statement necklace was a huge trend in 2012 and I can’t think of a better opportunity to display one.
Jeans, T-Shirt, & OVERaccessories: There’s no such thing as a fashion rut. An accessory rut seems like a more realistic problem. Fortunately, the fashion blog gods have granted our wishes and made jeans and a t-shirt appropriate for everything short of weddings and funerals. An average vintage t-shirt paired with skinny jeans becomes exceptional accessorized with a fur jacket, patent stiletto pumps and WAY too much jewelry. Styling yourself in this fashion allows plenty of room for dancing and socializing regardless of where you decide to spend the night
As always, having a fantastic New Year’s Eve experience should be the focus when choosing an outfit and once you’ve found something you’ll be confident and comfortable in be sure to grab a tall golden glass of champagne just before midnight. It by far is the best accessory of all.
