We are super excited to be supporting our brothers-in-arts, Shaolin Jazz on their next live edition which follows their recent trip to Ethiopia. This is a show not to be missed. Purchase your tickets here.
Background: In 2015 the creators became the first recipients of the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities’ Sister Cities International Arts Grant for a music exchange initiative between Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and Washington, DC. Now that they are back from a week-long excursion in Addis Ababa they are ready to share the music and sounds of Ethio-Jazz and Hip Hop they experienced with the people of Washington, DC.
On Saturday, June 4th at Tropicalia on U Street they will be joined by guest artists and musicians for a special, one-night only Ethiopia Edition of SHAOLIN JAZZ L!VE.
About Shaolin Jazz: Conceived by Gerald Watson and produced by DJ 2-Tone Jones, SHAOLIN JAZZ – The 37th Chamber is a testament to the stylistic connection between both Jazz and Hip-Hop. It is a series of innovative engagements and creative extensions that explore Jazz and Hip-Hop culture. These engagements not only re-emphasize the greatness of both Jazz and Hip-Hop, but also serve to further the connection between the two while also educating people of all ages about both respective genres.
